Amina Omar Ali, LMSW

Background

Amina is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with adults and older adults, with a focus on dementia, caregiver stress, and age-related challenges. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Amina moved to Florida at age 17 and has since built a career grounded in cultural humility and inclusive care. She has over two decades of experience working with diverse populations across settings, including child and adolescent services, policy development, and adult protective services. Since relocating to Houston in 2003, she has served in leadership roles at Adult Protective Services, bringing both clinical and systems-level insight to her practice. 

Training & Approach

Amina earned her BS in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University in 1998 and her MSW from the University of Houston. Her approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, and she tailors her interventions to meet the unique needs of each client. Amina is especially skilled in supporting individuals coping with dementia, chronic illness, and caregiver burden. Her work is guided by empathy, cultural awareness, and a strong commitment to empowering clients as they navigate complex emotional and life transitions.
